A pump is a device used to move fluids, such as gases, liquids or slurries. A pump displaces a volume by physical or mechanical action. One common misconception about pumps is the thought that they create pressure. Pumps alone do not create pressure; they only displace fluid, causing a flow. Adding resistance to flow causes pressure.
There are various types of pumps that we supply at Fluid Pumps, including air operated pumps, progressing cavity pumps, peristaltic pumps and positive displacement pumps to name just a few.
Air operated pumps (or compressed air powered double diaphragm pumps) run on compressed air. These types of pumps are usually seen in most areas of the industry from shipping to process. We supply a variety of air operated pumps from manfacturers such as Sandpiper, Wilden Pumps, ARO and Verder. Air operated pumps are relatively inexpensive and can be used for almost any duty from pumping water out of bunds, to pumping hydrochloric acid from secure storage. Suction is normally limited to roughly 6m although heads can be almost unlimited.
Fluid Pumps can offer a pump repair and pump installation service in Hull, Selby, York, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and surrounding areas.
